Kennedy Memorial Park in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Due to my impending job-related training in the Cape, this trip has been planned but not for this particular Saturday. I am anxious about driving 2 hours to the training site that I asked my hubby if we can do a trip to the place so I will know where I am going when the day of the training does come. Plus it's an excuse to do a road trip to the Cape and visit some familiar places while enjoying this only sunny day of the whole week. It has been raining on and off for the whole week which is great for the garden but not when you wanna do outdoor fun stuff.
We did not know that this is going on until we got here. There were lots of nice boats and yachts on display in the harbor when we got here to take a walk along the boardwalk. Mind you, we just had a scrumptious meal of scallops, shrimps, clams and fish with some fries and coleslaw. Just a few of my favorite summer things to do ^_^.....The place was getting busy and it won't be long now when the tourist starts coming and the traffic will be on standstill in Main Street. The ferry going to the islands are also getting very busy and there are tourist here and there taking advantage of the ambiance and the weather. My husband felt like he's on vacation somewhere else and I couldn't agree more. This reminds me of Key West with a more subdued surroundings, for sure, there will not me a Mallory Square melee to speak of.
The first time I've seen this was when we boarded a ferry for Martha's Vineyard one cold April day in 1997. My husband wanted me to see Martha's Vineyard then but sadly the ferry had some engine trouble so we had to head back to the dock. It was a tease trip and it took so many years before we finally made that trip on a Memorial day weekend.Since then, I have been meaning to find this lighthouse and view it on land. This day must be our lucky day. As we were walking by the boardwalk we venture out farther to a dead end and a sort of a private yacht club marina. As we came close to the water, lo and behold, there it was standing and guiding boats safely to the dock for many years. I am very interested in lighthouses because they have a certain mystic and allure to them, at least for me. I was so glad to finally have a picture of this one and I guess, it'll be the first lighthouse photo for 2009.^_^
